Renata Borowska

General Director of the Poznań Opera House (since 2012); previously – a deputy artistic director of that institution. She is a member of the board of the Opera Europa Association (since 2016). Under her auspices Poznań Opera House participated in the OperaVision project (www.operavision.eu) and cooperated with the most important cultural institutions in Europe, including La Monnaie, Welsh National Opera as well as Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera. Since 2017 she has been a tutor of annual prestigious Opera Management Course. Renata Borowska-Juszczyńska sat on the jury of the 10th and 11th edition of the European Opera-Directing Prize, organized by the Camerata Nuova Association, and was invited by the Opera Europa Association and the Opera America Association to participate in the World Opera Forum in Madrid (2018). In 2019, she made Stanisław Moniuszko's The Haunted Manor the subject of the 11th edition of the European Opera-Directing Prize. The production premiered in July 2021 in Poznań, was received with great enthusiasm and was broadcast on the OperaVision platform.

She is actively involved in promoting the works of Stanisław Moniuszko in Poland and abroad. She was a member of the program board of the Moniuszko Year 2019. By her initiative, the Poznań Opera House hosted a conference in preparation of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the composer's birth, organized together with the Institute of Musicology of Adam Mickiewicz University Poznań and Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera. Paria, staged as part of the anniversary programme, directed by Graham Vick, and conducted by Gabriel Chmura, won the International Opera Award 2021 in the category of Rediscovered Work. This prestigious award is known as the Oscar of the opera world. The concert performance of Halka at the Berlin Philharmonic and the recording of this work by Naxos Records (2019) were one of the most important events of the composer's year in Poland.

Renata Borowska-Juszczyńska is involved in promotion of young artists, contemporary opera and socially engaged activities. She co-operates with contemporary composers by commissioning works from such artists as Aleksander Nowak, Dariusz Przybylski or Rafał Zapała. She shares her skills and experience by lecturing at postgraduate studies for culture managers at the Poznań University of Economics and Business.

She is the founder and a long-time President of the Board of Nuova Foundation that produced such artistic events as Spring Festival and Poznań Live. She is a former vice-president of the MALTA Theater Festival Foundation. From 1997 to 2003 she worked for the Henryk Wieniawski Musical Society in Poznań. During that period, she co-created the Polish Artistic Presentation at the EXPO in Hannover and organized the promotion of the H. Wieniawski Competitions at the MIDEM CLASSIC fair in Cannes. Her previous professional experience includes working for TVP – the Polish state-media corporation, cooperation with the Łódź of Four Cultures Festival or co-organization of the first New Classic Form Europe Festival in Łódź.

In 2016, she was the recipient of the silver medal "Labor Omnia Vincit", and in 2017 she received the award of the Adam Mickiewicz University Poznań - Alumno Bene Merenti.
