Per Boye Hansen

Norwegian Music, Theatre and Opera manager, born in 1957 in Oslo.

Artistic Director of the Opera of the National Theatre and the State Opera, in Prague.

From 2012 to 2017 Artistic Director at the Norwegian National Opera, from 2005 to 2012 Artistic and Managing Director of the Bergen International Festival and from 2000 to 2005 Casting Director and Co-Director at Komische Oper Berlin.

After working as a journalist for the Norwegian newspapers Dagbladet and Morgenbladet, and theatre studies at the University of Oslo, he studied opera direction at the academy Folkwanghochschule in Essen, Germany. From 1984 to 1988 he was Assistant Stage Director at the opera in Cologne and on several occasions Assistant Stage Director at the Salzburg Festival. 

In 1982 he was founder of the Oslo Summer Opera and led the company as artistic director until 1992.

In 1990 he was founder of Oslo Arts Management Ltd, an opera and concert agency, and presented a an annual concert series at the Oslo Concert Hall.

From 2011 until 2019 he has been Chairman of the Jury for the prestigious and highly prized (£ 250 000) Ibsen International Award, appointed by the Norwegian Ministry of Culture. I has been member of the jury for several competitions like BBC Singer of the World in Cardiff in 2013 and the jury for the Ring Award in Graz in 2017 and 2020.
