F: What is the age limit for participation?

A: The singing competition is open to young singers who are at least 18 years old and, at the most, 36  years old on the first day of the competition (23th July 2022) (The upper age limit has been altered due to the Covid crisis and is intended to give all candidates in the 2020 competition a chance to reapply in 2022).

F: What do I have to keep in mind when selecting arias and the sound samples that I attach to the application?

A: Candidates must submit a list of 6 arias, including one aria by Mozart. From the list of 6 arias proposed in the application candidates must submit 3 audio clips, one of which must be the Mozart aria. Based on the audio clips submitted the jury will select candidates for the heats in Nuremberg. You can find tips in achieving good-quality recordings at ‘Competition rules - III. Applications’ 

F: Why are there no more international pre-selections?

A: Due to the ongoing virus situation worldwide there will be no international pre-selections in 2022. Based on the audio clips submitted the jury will select candidates for the heats in Nuremberg.

F: Does every application have to include an aria by Mozart?

A: Yes, you always have to choose one Mozart aria.

F: Which certificates/ diplomas should I add to my application?

A: You can add e.g. your bachelor or master diploma or any other diploma concerning your musical education. You can also submit certificates of singing competitions or other documents that emphazise your musical career.

F: I cannot find my desired aria in the selection catalogue of the registration form. What can I do?

A: In this case, please send an email with the title of your desired aria to the organisation team at application(a)nuernberg-competition.com.

F: Will every applicant be allowed to audition?

A: No, in advance to the preliminary stages in Nuremberg the jury will select the candidates by reference to the audio recordings.

F: Will I also be informed if I am not invited to the preliminary stages in Nuremberg?

A: Yes, you will receive a written response via e-mail whether you are invited or not.

F: I am not invited to the preliminary stages in Nuremberg. Will the registration fee of 50 EUR be refunded?

A: No, the money will not be refunded. It serves as a fee for processing your application.
